As I'm going to bed, I think of Kinkerstraat
This is a reminder. The map — a walking route through Odesa, not Amsterdam. Or through Odesa? It’s up to you. To be here and not be here. Place, time — everything is now tangled, crumpled. And what’s left? Shards remain, which I occasionally pull out of my memory; luckily, not from my body. You can walk through this city and imagine that you are somewhere else, in some city of your own. Or like this: the city you come from. Here, there should probably be a question mark. But in this text, there are already too many. Too many.
Just leave this place. It’s simple. We are constantly discovering something around us. Looking for stones to hold onto, or to string together. To see this city through different eyes. To hear it. This is my story. And before that, a few technical words: Hierarchies, or the “correct” order — sequence — do not exist. There is a list of places, corners, names that you will encounter here. Perhaps you will follow them in order. I don’t rule it out. That works too. When you arrive at any of these points, you can play the corresponding audio on your device. There, you’ll hear an audio file I recorded for you. Then, after experiencing something at that place, you can move on. I will be glad if you have a good time and take a walk through one of my favorite cities.
