In search of information about the events that took place in Ukraine in 1990, the artist came across the history of the "Ukrainian Wave" – unique for its time, but now somewhat forgotten.
On Sunday, January 21, 1990, a "live chain" between Kyiv and Lviv appeared. Millions of people standing hand in hand were standing by the roads, uniting numerous towns and villages.
This action was dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic/1919/.
The "Ukrainian wave" was one of the largest in world history and became an important symbolic step towards Ukraine's independence, obtained in six months.
Due to Nikolay Karabinovych's initiative, organizers of the historical "chain" met again to recreate that happening and symbolically loop it.
All participants have the status of "Fighter for the independence of Ukraine in the twentieth century".
